Birthday Weekend!

This weekend was a birthday weekend. My sweetheart turned 25 years old! We started off the celebrations with BBQ with Danny's family on Saturday at the park. It was so much fun to have the whole family down and I was able to successfully feed a hungry crew! Sunday I tried to dote on Danny for his actual birthday (June 6th) with a nice Sunday meal and a few more gifts. Then today my family came down to visit and do a little celebrating as well.
With three days of celebration I hope Danny realizes he has A LOT of people that love him so! Here are a few shots from our Saturday BBQ.
Danny tried to take his own picture as I was trying to keep the candles from blowing out from the wind.

Behold the TASTY DQ ice cream cake that we all devoured

Ammon LOVED the ice cream cake! He waited in great anticipation for every bite!

Adorable Tru. Look at those eyes!

Ammon wanted some of Danny's birthday snacks.

I got Danny a hilarious card that sang "Macho, macho man" with a hysterical picture on the inside. We all laughed.
Overall the weekend was fantastic and I am so grateful that Danny was born and that he came into my life so that I could be blessed to have him as my husband.

The Weekend in Review

Danny and I had a wonderfully LONG weekend in which we enjoyed the following activites...

Dinner and bowling with an awesome couple in our ward

Here is Danny bowling what may have been a strike!
The girls owned the boys in this round of bowling

Saturday was full of relaxation, some shopping and carmel corn making

(I bought the SWEETEST little popcorn popper. This little gem can pop a whole bowl of popcorn in like two minutes!)

Sunday we visited and stayed with Danny's family. Here is most of the clan out for a Sunday stroll!
One of my favorite past times is playing with my adorable neiece and nephew. Check out the new trick they have learned to do with their dad!

Memorial day was spent with my family and since there were confilicts with celebrating my little sisters b-day on Tuesday her actual birthday we celebrated on Monday. My baby sister is officially a teenager! Isn't she cute!

We had a most enjoyable weekend and I had a heck of a Monday being back at work. I am so glad we had the time to spend with family and friends and with each other this weeked. It was just awesome!

"Organizing them, duh"

My wife is an organizer. Her special gift manifests itself in the nuances of life. One, for instance, occurred today in something neither I— nor anyone else, I’m sure—would generally think of. When Marisa got home from work today she sat down at the table and started talking to me. I had just finished up a practice test for the LSAT and had all my pencils out on the table. As she talked to me, Marisa started organizing my pencils from longest to shortest! I was confused and had to ask “ummm. . . excuse me, what exactly are you doing with my pencils?” Of course, as if I didn’t already know they were disorganized, she told me “organizing them, duh.” I just had to take a picture.

Marisa and I just got back from our one-year anniversary. On Friday afternoon we hustled from Provo to Providence, which is located just outside of Logan, in only two hour amidst rush-hour traffic because of my sick driving skills; Google map says it takes two hours and fifteen minutes—ha, beat ya sucka!

As soon as we arrived it started raining, even hailing for a second. I haven’t seen rain like that since I was in Brazil. We bought an umbrella from Walmart after checking in at our bed and breakfast. Then we headed to The Iron Gate Grill before Marisa “ate her arm” (those are her words verbatim).

Marisa stepped outside her restaurant comfort zone and ordered baby back ribs! Very uncharacteristic of her, but I liked the idea mostly because I knew she would give me one or two of them. I ordered fillet mignon . . . mmmm, delish. We got a free cheesecake complementary of Providence Inn. We downed it in less than 90 seconds.

Today we visited the Logan temple. Both Marisa and I had never been there before. That’s us right above the flowers in the middle.

Now we’re baby sitting for a couple in our ward: Kyle and Ashley Christensen. Kyle leaves for military training next week, so we thought we would let them have a date night. The baby’s name is James. I like to call him King James. But I came up with the name before Lebron had nine ridiculous turnovers against the Celtics in game six that sent Lebron back to Cleveland without yet another title. That really ticked me off. Geez. Now I’m thinking of calling the baby “The Milk Man.” He downed his bottle of milk as fast as we downed our cheesecake.

A few highlights...

The last couple of weeks have been really fun for Danny and I as we have enjoyed the new "spare time" Danny has since graduating!

Here are a few of the highlights...

Danny prepared his very first meal for me! Country fried steak and potatoes. It was delish!

I tried a new recipie which are called "Homemade Oreos" and O how good they are. Danny & I will probably gain 5lbs from the number of cookies we have eaten.

We made a little trip up to Kaysville to watch my little bro play lacrosse. He is the studly #37.

Last but not least we went and watched the movie "Last Song" which we completely paid for with gift cards that we thought had no money left on them. Talk about SCORE! This is Danny PRETENDING that he is experiencing what a hurricane might feel like because we OBVIOUSLY didn't pay for this unique experience.

That is the latest with us. We will be sure to keep you posted on all our upcoming summer adventures! (assuming summer decides to show up. no more 50 degree weather please).
P.S. In case you wondering how I liked "Last Song" I would tell you that I liked it. The story line was cute and I even cried. However Miley Cyrus isn't the greatest actress so keep that in mind and maybe you should just hold out until it is in the dollar theater.

"Balla" Wife

I'm no Michael Jordan--well, not in theory, but maybe in practice--and neither is Marisa. But man did we have an intense game of basketball last night on our 1' by 1' basketball hoop!

Marisa put up a good fight. In fact, probably too much. She threw me into the dresser drawer one time--rude! And threw some cheap shots. But I let her get away with it. The initial rules were fist one to seven, win by two. Marisa kept changing the rules on me though. Finally, out of the pure mercy of my kind heart, I told her I would play only with my left hand.

Eventually we both kept scoring so we had to make a "next point wins" rule. Now, I'm not Keven McHale in this picture getting smothered, nor Robert Parish sheepishly looking at what is about to happen; in reality, I don't even want to claim the famed Larry Bird because they're all getting embarrassed by one amazing ball player. I do, however, want to give some credit to my amazing wife. Yeah, you guessed it: she won. And her last point was close to what Michael is doing here. I'm not at all embarrassed thought because everyone reading this would probably get worked twice as bad as I did, even if you played with your right hand.

It's about time!

Danny & I have been married for almost 6 weeks now and I feel that I am WAY overdue in starting this blog. I had every intention to start us a blog during our engagement but just never got around to it. So here we are starting the blog that we should have started long ago.

We have chosen the title of our blog because that is what we feel like we are living. Our "happily ever after."

This blog will be a record of all the wonderful things Danny and I experience in our "happily ever after" together. Hope you enjoy and be sure to stay tuned for what I am sure are going to be some FABULOUS blog posts! : )
